Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois

The University Hospital in Lausanne (CHUV) is a 835 beds teaching hospital serving as the city hospital for Lausanne and its surroundings, as well as the reference hospital for the canton of Vaud and the whole country for some diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. It is also a research centre developing new procedures, testing them in clinical trials and introducing them into clinical practice.

In 1997, the direction of the hospital issued internal guidelines for medico-economic assessment of new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to help allocating scarce resources efficiently so that the mission of care can be fulfilled while potentially useful technical innovation is not compromised.
