The Geneva University Hospital (HUG) constitute one of the largest groups of hospitals in Switzerland with more than 2 200 beds.

Main Objectives

The three main objectives are :

To provide medical care and treatment to the patient
To ensure the education of doctors, nurses and other health care professionals
To develop research with national and international collaboration.

Medical organisation

The medical services are organised into 12 different departments according to their speciality. The departments correspond to the academic structure of the Faculty of Medicine : Anaesthesiology, pharmacology and surgical intensive care, Clinical neuroscience and dermatology, Community-based medicine, Geriatrics and rehabilitation, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Internal medicine, Pathology, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Radiology, Rehabilitation Hospital (long term care), Surgery.

High technology

The Geneva University Hospital attach great importance to:

A high level of equipment : 35 operating theaters with laminar flow and plafonds "soufflants", for example
