Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology

The Federal Office for Professional Education and Technology launched in 1997 the MedTech Initiative. The general aim of the initiative is to promote co-operation between universities, schools of technology and private industry in the field of medical device technology. The specific goals are:

• to increase number and quality of market driven development projects
• to bring about collaboration among medical device companies
• to booster the medical device technology industry in Switzerland

The central focus is on establishing "Competence Networks" between researchers and industries in order to accelerate knowledge and technology transfer and to increase the competitiveness of Swiss companies.

The initiative takes into serious account the needs of Swiss small and medium enterprises, and helps them in the development and promotion of their products and competencies in Switzerland and abroad.
