Our Institute is primarily devoted to education and research in the field of biomedical engineering, medical physics and bioelectronics. Courses are offered to students of the Engineering Sciences, Physics and Chemistry as well as within the framework of selected programmes to medical students. The majority of the research projects, in turn, are conducted in collaboration with clinical and/or industrial partners.

The Winterthur Institute of Health Economics was founded in 1999 and is part of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. It is a center of competence for health economic and social welfare issues. Based on the interdisciplinary nature of its team, it is able to handle a wide range of assignments in the field of health economic evaluation and health technology assessment.

The Basel Institute for Clinical Epidemiology (BICE) is integrated in the Department of Internal Medicine, University Hospital Basel. As an academic institution, our mission is to advance knowledge in evaluative sciences related to health and health care through interdisciplinary research, to facilitate the transfer of research information, and to provide advice on clinical research methods.
