EUPHA annual conference in Oslo/Norway

The main theme of the conference is: Urbanisation and health: new challenges in health promotion and prevention

Urbanisation has a deep impact on people's health as well as the health and social care services. The rapid process of change is a challenge to public health policy and services within health promotion and prevention. This conference focuses not only on factors causing disease and injury but also on factors promoting health, and encouraging a change in lifestyle. It aims at bringing together researchers, practitioners and policymakers to discuss the health problems related to urbanisation, exchange of information on experiences and research results, and formulate common solutions and strategies dealing with urbanisation and health.

The major topics of the 2004 meeting are:

  • Urbanisation and health transition - an overview
  • Challenges in health promotion and prevention
  • The nature-culture-health interplay and quality of life
