HTA in highly specialised medecine - trying to square the circle?
10 years have already passed since SNHTA's establishment. A ceremony with a high-level scientific program including lectures by State Councillor Dr. Carlo Conti and Professors Thierry Carrel, Matthias Egger, Peter Sawicki and Thomas Zeltner will take place on Tuesday, April 28th 2009 from 13.30 - 17.00 at Insel University Hospital in Berne to which you are cordially invited.
Health Technology Assessment / HTA is bridging the gap between the worlds of science and politics and has a long tradition in Switzerland in connection with reimbursement of medical technologies through the Swiss basic health insurance package (Obligatorische Krankenpflegeversicherung / Assurance obligatoire des soins). In times of constantly new and partly better medical technologies and continually rising health care costs collaboration among the different actors in the HTA-process became more and more important. Based on these considerations SNHTA was founded back in 1999 with Coordinating Secretariat at Medical Technology Unit, Directorate Health and Accident Insurance of the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health. It’s membership includes today 23 institutions active in the field of HTA.
Persons interested in HTA from academia and science, medical professional associations, as well as from hospitals, authorities, health insurers, consulting firms, manufacturers, institutions, organisations and associations
